New Uncle Sam

Tom Nichols, right, congratulates the new Uncle Sam, Franklinton Commissioner Art Wright .

Tom Nichols, organizer of the event and acting “Uncle Sam” since its inception twelve years ago, appointed Art Wright as the official “Uncle Sam” for the Franklin County AMVETS effective 2009.

The Zerbe's say, "Goody, now we can take the prize in the parade from here on out. Hee hee!"

Come one and all to the Board Of Directors meeting Saturday 6/21/08 , 9:00am.
The Southside Renegades are going to make a presentation to the recreation committee and all Renegades should wear their green shirt.

How about a night at the Drive In Movies for an upcoming weekend event?
A couple from Virginia have bought and remodeled the Raleigh Road Outdoor Theater in Henderson. They show first run movies and have a good family atmosphere. We could pick a Saturday night to have a caravan of cars go over there. So dust off the old Country Squire or Estate wagon and load up the coolers and chairs and lets show these kids how much fun you can have at the drive in movies. If you do not have a Station Wagon SUV’s, Mini Vans, and regular cars work also.

Well it looks like summer is here at Lake Royale with temperatures reaching over 90 degrees 7 days in a row. The lake and pool should be quite crowded this weekend with people trying to cool off. Don’t forget the chicken plate fundraiser at the clubhouse Saturday for William Bunn. There is still time to donate a cake or pie to help raise more money for this worthy cause.

We had great weather last weekend at the lake with the exception of the downpour Sunday afternoon.

There will be a Memorial Service Saturday May 24th at 11:30 am at the Flag Pole Lake Royale Entrance with a program to honor our Vets and reading of the deceased remembered on the brick walkway to the Flag Pole.

This ceremony will be put on by Amvets Post 201. I bought a brick to honor my father and to help a good cause. If you have not purchased a brick yet contact an Amvet member for details on how you can purchase a brick to honor a loved one.

Some of us attended the Town Hall Forum at the Clubhouse last week.
Although attendance was light, some good issues were discussed between the board and property owners.
We hope more property owners will attend and get involved in the future of Lake Royale at the next Forum.
